Achievements

In 3 seasons as the managing partner of LGL Racing, Aron Wellman successfully identified a Graded Stakes winner each year. Three Degrees, Valbenny and Miss Singhsix not only went on to be Stakes winners, but Graded Stakes winners, which is the pinnacle of success in the world of thoroughbred horse racing.

Aside from being able to land it’s partners in the winners’ enclosure for the most lucrative and prestigious caliber races during that 3 season timespan, LGL was productive with it’s stock, hitting at a win strike rate of better than 25 percent.

In 2007, while Wellman was in the midst of mapping out a campaign for Valbenny, a multiple Graded Stakes winner for LGL, Jay Hovdey, the national columnist for the Daily Racing Form, referred to Wellman (30) as, “a budding horse owner and syndicate manager.”

It was when Wellman joined Team Valor International as the company’s Vice President in January 2008 that his career truly began to kick into high gear. In 3 ½ seasons as the Vice President of Team Valor, the stable won 200 races, 58 Stakes races, 34 of which were Graded, including 9 Grade 1′s, the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and the 2011 Kentucky Derby with Animal Kingdom. The company’s overall win rate during that time span was better than 20 percent.
